Description

Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) gives your child a voice — whether that's through picture boards, communication devices, sign language, or a combination of tools. But AAC only works if the people around your child know how to use it too. That's where our Caregiver Training comes in.

Our AAC Caregiver Training is a structured class series — available in-person or via Zoom — designed to teach you how to program, model, and implement AAC in your child's daily life. You'll learn how to make AAC a natural part of mealtimes, play, routines, and conversations. The goal isn't to replace speech — it's to give your child every possible way to communicate while their verbal skills continue to develop.

What We Offer

  • Structured Training Series: A multi-session class covering AAC fundamentals, implementation strategies, and troubleshooting — available in-person or via Zoom.

  • Low-Tech to High-Tech: We cover the full range of AAC — from picture boards and core vocabulary boards to tablet-based speech generating devices.

  • Hands-On Practice: You won't just learn about AAC — you'll practice programming devices, modeling language, and creating communication opportunities.

  • Individualized Guidance: Training is adapted to your child's specific AAC system and communication level.

  • Modeling Strategies: Learn how to model AAC in everyday interactions so your child sees it used naturally and consistently.

  • Community Support: Connect with other families navigating the same journey.

Who It’s For
